How to launch a global payout platform with dollar accounts using stablecoins

October 20, 2026
Launching a global payout platform with dollar accounts for end users used to take years of building, acquiring licenses, and securing banking partners. Today, it can take only weeks with stablecoin infrastructure, and your users never have to know it's there. They receive their pay in your app as a dollar balance, spend it with a card, access yield opportunities, and cash out to local currency when they need to.

In case you didn't notice, some of the largest global payout platforms now offer stablecoin-based dollar accounts to the workers they pay out to. When those workers spend and save their earnings in the platform's own dollar accounts, the platform owns more of its relationship with them, along with revenue that would otherwise go to the bank or wallet app they cash out to.

The best part of it all: you don't have to build any of this yourself.

Crossmint gives you full stablecoin and wallet infrastructure through one API, so you can launch in weeks on the same platform MoneyGram, Western Union, and Tala use. Use any product on its own to fill a gap in your existing payout stack, or launch the whole thing end to end with us.

How the pieces fit together

Stablecoin infrastructure platforms abstract away the blockchain complexity so you can focus on delivering the best capabilities and experience for your users. Some of these platforms, like Crossmint, are available through a headless API or embedded pre-built components, so you can integrate any product directly into your app without sending users out to a third-party site.

‍

Example stablecoin payout flow

‍

Here’s each piece and how they work inside of a global payout platform:

‍

  • Treasury wallets: Hold your company's funds in stablecoins, earn on your idle balance, and send every payout from one place.
  • User wallets: Give each worker a dollar account in your app, custodial or non-custodial. Non-custodial keeps workers in control of their funds, while custodial makes recovery and spending limits simpler. You can switch models later without changing wallet addresses.
  • Regulated payouts: Send each payout under the platform’s licenses, with AML screening, sanctions checks, and Travel Rule data exchange where required, all in the same API call.
  • Offramps: Let workers cash out to a local bank account in supported markets.
  • Wallet extensions: Add cards, offer yield opportunities, and integrate other stablecoin-based financial tools on the same balance.
  • Identity: Pass the KYC data you already collect, and ask workers only for the details a payout requires.

‍

Luckily, you don't have to build it alone. At Crossmint, our all-in-one platform covers all of these pieces today and our Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) will work with your team from the first flow-of-funds map to launch so you can go live fast. If you also want workers to top up their dollar account with a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, without leaving your app or verifying twice, we made a guide on how you can use Crossmint Onramp to win users the first time they fund a dollar account.

Two ways to launch

If you already pay people abroad

You don't have to replace the payout rails that already work. Add the dollar account as a new withdrawal option next to bank transfers, and give workers a reason to pick it. Their pay lands in seconds at any hour, where a bank transfer can take days. It stays in dollars until they choose to convert, so they skip the conversion that comes with a local bank payout. And they can spend it right away with a card.

‍

Adding a dollar account balance to your app

‍

Reuse the KYC you already collect, from whichever provider you use, through our KYC sharing API. Or use our embedded KYC flows. If you hold your own money transmission licenses, you can run regulated payouts under them. From there, add cards and yield opportunities to give workers more reasons to keep their pay in your app, and to open new revenue for your platform.

If you're starting from scratch

Launch the full stack at once, from the treasury wallet and regulated payouts to dollar accounts, offramp, and wallet extensions. Stablecoin payouts are strongest where money crosses borders.

‍

Top three segments for stablecoin payouts

‍

Here are a few of the segments where we’re seeing the most momentum:

‍

  • Global contractor and payroll platforms: Pay contractors in Latin America and other emerging markets without slow, costly wires, and let them hold dollars instead of a volatile local currency. Stablecoin payroll and remittances already run at about $90 billion a year.
  • Creator platforms: Pay creators anywhere, with a dollar wallet they can use to pay their own editors and designers abroad. Goldman Sachs expects platform payouts to help push the creator economy toward $480 billion by 2027.
  • AI training and data platforms: Pay the global networks of people who label data and refine model outputs. AI trainer roles were the fastest-growing cross-border job on Deel’s platform in 2025, up 283%.

What to plan before launch

Stablecoin payouts to workers abroad are regulated money movement. Before you set a launch date, check three things: who holds the licenses, where your payouts can go, and which compliance steps each payout needs.

Flow of funds and licensing: Map whether you move your clients' money or pay workers from your own treasury, since that decides which licenses each payout needs. If you don't hold your own money transmission licenses, you can send payouts under Crossmint's. Our US licenses cover platforms in all 50 states, and our MiCA authorization covers platforms in the EU and EEA.

Regional coverage: Crossmint's regulated payouts reach workers in 160+ countries. Offramp coverage differs in some markets, so contact us to confirm the countries where your workers live.

Regulatory framework: Each worker needs KYC, and each payout needs AML and sanctions screening, plus Travel Rule data where required. Pass the KYC you already collect through Crossmint’s KYC sharing API, or use our embedded flows. We run screening and exchange Travel Rule data, where required, in the same API call. Lastly, plan your KYC flow early because workers verified under older checks may need to complete new steps.
