The coffee chain's loyalty program is already successful, boasting 60 million memberships + driving around 50% of its business.
Starbucks has begun beta-testing a blockchain-based rewards program that could revolutionize the loyalty programs industry.
Starbucks is using blockchain to reward and connect with their members in new ways, including digital stamps that can be collected, traded + displayed within a new digital community. To earn NFT collectibles, called ‘journey stamps’, customers complete challenges. These challenges encourage them to try new products or engage with the brand in new ways.
You can collect stamps for completing activities such as virtual tours of coffee farms, learning about Starbucks history and playing interactive games. The rewards include espresso martini-making classes, merchandise, artist collaborations, and event invites. In addition, the company is opening access to new benefits and immersive coffee experiences, both physically and digitally.
Could this be the 1st step towards a future where all loyalty programs are powered by NFTs?
With Starbucks NFTs, everybody wins:
The program aims to make NFTs more accessible to the masses, as consumers can purchase Stamps directly from Starbucks with a credit card through the Odyssey market.
Starbucks will lead the way for others to follow. We've partnered with platforms like Hang who are dedicated to shifting the world of rewards to Web3, and believe that this is the beginning of a new future for loyalty programs.
